Nowadays, spirituality has found an accessible online presence, allowing people to enhance their personal journeys using digital technologies. The internet provides various platforms for individuals to explore and deepen their spiritual practices, such as virtual guided meditations and online discourses. It is wonderful that people can connect with spiritual teachings irrespective of geographical boundaries.

It is crucial to maintain a connection with oneself and one’s spirituality, even when it isn’t feasible to be physically present at an ashram. I have often faced this challenge of enhancing my spirituality without being at a spiritual retreat, but have striven to integrate a virtual spiritual approach into my daily life to continue my journey towards inner growth.

The Ashram Experience vs Online Experience

There is no doubt that digital spirituality differs significantly from my experiences when visiting SRMD’s Ashram in Dharampur, Gujarat. Being there in person unlocks a deeper level of inner sanctity, enhanced by the collective spiritual energy of those around you and the serene atmosphere crafted for transformative progress. While online experiences provide a small glimpse into this world and channel the peace and positivity into my home, physically visiting the ashram is a whole different experience. It is a continuous immersion in spirituality, surrounded by like-minded individuals in a dedicated space to journey within.

My Digital Connection

I always feel uplifted after visiting the ashram, but the sense of renewal tends to wane once I return home. However, connecting with spirituality digitally from Dubai helps maintain that peace and positivity within my own space, extending that sense of super-charged energy gained at the ashram. The opportunity to watch satsangs on YouTube allows me to have a mini-portable ashram with me, wherever I am! My favorite way to uplift myself is to watch SRMD’s ‘Wisdom Capsules’ on YouTube. The playlist features an array of 2-3 minute videos where Guruji teaches a simple, practical message. Topics such as ‘Bid Farewell to Negative Emotions’ and ‘Carefulness in Communication’ are sure to improve not only my day, but my life!

Dubai Youth Group and Shared Spirituality

Every Dubai Youth Group (DYG) member shares a bond of connecting with the Ashram from Dubai. While a few of us are lucky to visit in person during the holidays, this is not possible during the majority of the school year. So, we come together twice a month to watch satsangs, creating a communal space to experience and discuss our spiritual journeys. Live streams of events from the Ashram, such as Param Satsang and Gurupurnima Celebrations allow us to connect in real-time with fellow mumukshus around the world! DYG members also cherish time spent doing bhakti, devotional music. This is a great means for us to channel our positive emotions without being at the Ashram.

Global Connection through Satsangs

My seva translating short udghosh videos to multiple foreign languages has been an eye-opening experience, revealing how millions of followers from various nationalities around the world stay connected to spirituality. It has been fascinating to provide a means for non-English speakers to benefit from inner growth through voice-dubbed and captioned satsangs online. Additionally, the Sadguru Enlightens and Sadguru Coaches apps enable those who are on the move to receive spiritual nourishment no matter where they are. I have thoroughly enjoyed the holistic approaches offered by the apps, including self-experiments, mindful cooking, philosophical articles, and yoga sessions.

Meditation and Mindfulness

Another major aspect of my spiritual routine is meditation, which has become easier with the help of digital tools. Guided meditations and zen music available online help me relax despite a stressful schedule. Since this online music is accessible on my iPhone, I have been able to integrate this practice into my daily routine, despite being physically distant from the Ashram.

In my view, the online spiritual experience has been a valuable supplement to my physical spiritual experience. It complements rather than replaces the profound impact of being in the presence of an Enlightened Master. The combined pursuits enrich my life, providing a continual connection with spirituality.
